Our Upper School Wind Ensemble has worked hard this semester to prepare three selections for Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE). This process involves attending to all the details of the music, which must be chosen from a list published by Georgia Music Educators Association. The Wind Ensemble will travel to Woodland High School on March 17 to perform their pieces for a panel of adjudicators who will provide great feedback and also a rating. Our Wind Ensemble has never attended LGPE before, and they are excited for this experience. The event will look a little different this year with COVID-safety protocols in place, but it is great that local school bands are still able to engage in this process of detailed preparation as young musicians get ready to give their best on stage. Each member of our Wind Ensemble has played an important role in bringing these pieces to life, and we are proud to have them represent Darlington!
The Wind Ensemble was able to record our three pieces in the Morris Chapel. Two of these recordings were shown to the community as part of our chapel service on Thursday, March 4. Please enjoy the progress the Wind Ensemble has made on these intricate compositions! They are entitled "Peacemaker March" (Karl King, arr. J. Swearingen), "Pevensey Castle" (Robert Sheldon), and "Achilles’ Wrath" (Sean O’Laughlin).
