Seniors from the Zoology class ventured to coastal Georgia in search of birds and other wetland wildlife. Five teams of 4-5 students searched freshwater swamps, tidal marshes, and beaches over a two-day competition to see the most bird species. Working alongside several expert mentors, including Darlington teachers, alumni, and wildlife biologists, the teams spotted over 100 bird species. Sightings from the trip were submitted to eBird, a global citizen science project designed to monitor bird distribution and abundance.
