Each student selected a favorite cartoon. He or she then taped the cartoon to a piece of graph paper. Using a straight edge, the student drew a grid over the cartoon picture using the lines on the graph paper as a guide. He or she then calculated the dimensions (in squares) needed to transfer their cartoon to a poster board half. The smallest dimension of the new drawing had to be 8 inches. By transferring square by square, the proportion of the original drawing is preserved.
