Congratulations to Darlington's 13 winners of the Northwest Regional Technology Competition! These students will now go on to compete at the Georgia Student Technology Competition, which will be held virtually again this year.

Sophomore Parker Scott won first place this year in Audio Production for his original song, "-3 Degrees." Parker is really talented at creating his own songs and beats using computer-generated software. This is his second straight win in Audio Production.

Seniors Johnathan Murphy and Charlie Reed took first place for the fourth year in a row, this year in Digital Photo Production. They have competed in every competition throughout their high school career. Both Johnathan and Charlie are incredibly talented in graphic design and using Photoshop to create amazing photographs. This year they took the theme "One School, One Darlington" and created a stunning representation.

Fifth-graders Alex Childers and Wren Booker were awarded first place in Graphic Design. They designed a logo for a Pet Cafe. In their interview process, they wowed the judges with their knowledge of the design process, as well as how they created the design using mixed mediums.

Sixth-grade siblings Isha and Yash Garg took home first place for Internet Applications. They created a fully functioning and visually stunning website called Garg's Creations. On this site, they market and sell a variety of handmade products.

Senior Caroline McRay won first place in Multimedia Applications. Caroline created a presentation teaching communication skills. The presentation highlights her work with her senior ventures project. Caroline did an amazing Keynote presentation that featured videos, pictures, and graphics.

Fifth-graders Tessa Chapman and Avagail Barksdale got first place for Productivity Design with their business, Avagail and Tessa's Bakery. The girls created their own business to generate money for the Davies Shelter and Ruth and Naomi's House. The project included posters, a logo, stickers, a budget, and a variety of other business items. Avagail and Tessa did an amazing job and also showed true service beyond self.

Fourth-grade student Madison Paxten took home first place in Project Programming with her amazing project, Just Dance. Madison created a series of characters and used code/programming to have them complete a variety of dances to different music. She even added variables so that the directional keys would generate a different dance. Madison proved that kids can code, and code very well, with this incredible project.

Sophomore Kate Scott took home first place in Video Production for the third year in a row. Kate's visually stunning movie was titled "Covid Travel Journal" and showcased all the amazing trips she has taken over the past few years since travel has been limited this year with Covid-19. Kate has an amazing eye for detail and can showcase emotion through her footage.

Senior filmmaker Shannon Li blew the judges away with his film, "One and Only." With a professional crew and actors, the film looked like it belonged in the theater. Shannon wrote, directed and filmed the entire movie. He has a passion for filmmaking and it definitely showed in this movie, complete with a surprising twist ending.

We are incredibly proud of all our students that participated in this year's regional technology competition. Good luck to those participating at the state level!
