This year’s Parents for Purple campaign for The Darlington Fund will run until Nov. 11. Learn more about our New Parent representatives, alumni Beth and Skye Wellesley ('00 '00, LD '14), who moved back to Rome last year to send their children to Darlington!
What is your connection to Darlington?
We are both alumni from the Class of 2000. Skye enrolled in 1998 as a boarding student and Beth a 13-year day student (kindergarten through 12th grade). We are also the parents of Elizabeth (first grade) and Jack (pre-K).
Where are you from and where do you live?
Beth is from Rome and Skye is from Jacksonville, AL. We currently live in Rome.
What do you do?
Beth works for The Coca-Cola Company and Skye is a partner at the law firm Gray, Rust, St. Amand, Moffett, & Brieske in Atlanta.
What was your path to Darlington as parents?
We lived in Atlanta for about 15 years; our children were born there. We were looking at kindergarten options for our daughter, Elizabeth, and were drawn back to Rome and Darlington as we were looking for a greater sense of community for them. The move to hybrid-working models allowed us to be more flexible in where we physically work day to day, and moving back "home" felt right.
What is your favorite part about Darlington?
The supportive and close knit community!
How else are you involved at Darlington?
Skye has served on Alumni Council in the past and is currently class agent.
Why do you give to The Darlington Fund and why is giving back important to you?
It's important for us to give back to support the Darlington Community which meant so much to us personally and also to our families for many generations.
What advice would you give to families new to Darlington?
Get involved and get to know the parents, faculty and staff! They will become your support system and friends while at Darlington and beyond. Our closest friends we have today are from our time as students at Darlington.
