Senior Ventures Spotlight: Alexander Greene’s Final Project

Alexander Greene | May 21, 2020 | 570 views

My role as the business manager has involved me managing all ad sales and revenue and creating all of the advertisements for the yearbook. This included all of the Senior ads. My goal was to receive a record amount of ad sales because they have been declining in the past. The money brought in for ads benefits the Fine Arts department and allows students like me to attend conferences and workshops throughout the year. My role as content manager has involved organizing the Senior Superlatives, Club Photos, Sports Photos, and other content aspects toward the publication.

As I have been working on this project, I have been creating job descriptions for the business and content manager of the yearbook. These descriptions will be used by leaders on the yearbook staff so they will have clear instructions.

Completing this project has assisted with better recognition and knowledge of the Darlington School Jabberwokk both in the Rome community and nationally.  This includes national awards and conventions such as NSPA, GSPA, SIPA, AND CSPA.

My project has changed during the second semester since we have been quarantined for the Covid-19 pandemic. My project has changed because the plant decided to close to Covid-19 concerns, so our deadline was extended, which pushed back the release date of the book to July. Overall, since the production is all online, it hasn’t affected the production that much, just the launch dates.

I would like to thank my Darlington mentors Mrs. Tannika King and Ms. Katie Merritt for assisting me with this project. I would also like to thank my community mentor, Ellie Borromeo, advertising director at V3 Publications in Rome. Ms. Tannika King helped me with a lot of the alumni resources and getting me those contacts along with teaching me project management. Ms. Katie Merritt helped with learning how to manage the content/ad sales along with providing feedback on various designs for the final ads.

For my final project, I have included the two job descriptions for business and content managers. The 2020 yearbook will be revealed later this summer.
