Senior Alice Barngrover has been named a finalist in the Rome Noon Optimist Club Student of the Year competition in the category of Community Involvement.
Barngrover is a three-year boarding student from Columbus, Ga., who has made her mark in the area of community service. This year, her Senior Ventures project has her spearheading Darlington’s Green Team recycling program. She has also volunteered with Brighter Birthdays, Restoration Rome, McHenry Primary School and Darlington's Power Hour program.
Barngrover is also a member of Coosa Junior Golf Academy, French Club and French National Honor Society. She has received the 11th Grade Class Citizenship Award, the Rhodes College Book Award and the AP Scholar Award. She is the daughter of Dr. Kenneth and Dawn Barngrover of Columbus.
