Founded in 1905, Darlington School is a coeducational day (PK-12) and boarding (9-12) school serving over 700 students. Darlington’s campus stretches 500 acres, nestled around a small lake in the foothills of the Lookout Mountain Range in Rome, Georgia, a medical center and college town located one hour from Atlanta and Chattanooga, Tennessee. Darlington’s Director of Athletics is responsible for contributing to and advancing the culture and strategic vision of Darlington athletics. Beyond management of the Upper School athletic programs, the Director of Athletics must see themselves as the leader of all athletic programs at Darlington, beginning with physical education class and after-school activities in the Pre-K to 8 Division and extending to our strength and conditioning programs and 23 varsity teams in the Upper School.

The Math Department at Darlington School seeks an experienced Math teacher beginning August 1 for the 2025-2026 school year. A Darlington teacher fully supports the mission and values of the school and has the primary responsibility for creating the best student experience possible in support of the school’s learning framework, The Cycle of Learning. The candidate must demonstrate mastery of fundamental mathematics skills related to teaching courses that may include Geometry, Algebra 2, Precalculus, Calculus, Statistics, or other high school level courses. The candidate must also be able to teach a skills-based curriculum to a diverse group of students using research-based teaching strategies.

Darlington’s English-style House System, unique to American boarding schools, is the backbone of the family-like campus atmosphere at Darlington School. First implemented in 1999, the House System encourages the development of strong, lifelong student-faculty mentoring relationships and creates an immediate sense of camaraderie for the students who are making their home on Darlington’s campus.
Each house is managed by a head of house and supported by additional teachers and staff members who live on campus (around 30% of our employees also call Darlington home!) The residential life staff, who is dedicated and attuned to the unique needs of young people, teaches students to balance structure and routine with opportunities for independence and leadership.
Our residential community represents an average of 25 states and 30 countries worldwide each year. Supporting nearly 200 residential students from around the globe offers unique opportunities and experiences that are both difficult and rewarding. The most successful residential employees see working in residential life as a lifestyle.
As a committed member of the residential program, you can expect to work approximately 33 study hall nights and 5 weekends. Resident faculty work on a team of five to six people to support one of our six residential houses.
On-campus housing may range from one-bedroom apartments to single family homes and may be in a dormitory, apartment building or a stand-alone house
Health Coverage
Medical insurance is available to full-time employees through United HealthCare. The school pays approximately two-thirds of the total premium for the employee and the employee pays one-third, depending on the plan type and coverage level.
Dental Coverage
A dental plan is offered to full-time employees through Guardian Dental. This plan is paid for by the employee.
Vision Coverage
A vision plan is offered to full-time employees through Eyemed. This plan is paid for by the employee.
Disability Insurance
Short term and Long Term Disability insurance is available to all full-time employees. Disability insurance will pay 60% of the regular salary in combination with Social Security if totally disabled for more than three months. In order to ensure that any benefits received are tax free, the employee pays the full premium of .40% of salary with after-tax dollars.
Basic Life and AD&D
Term life insurance is available to all full-time employees immediately upon employment. Coverage amount for employees is twice the annual salary rounded up to the next $1,000. In order to ensure that any benefits received are tax free, the employee pays their portion of the premium with after-tax dollars. Cost for the employee is approximately .0014 of salary.
403(b) Retirement Plan
Darlington School offers the TIAA-CREF tax-sheltered annuity retirement plan to all eligible full-time employees. Eligibility requirements are one year of service at Darlington or at another similar institution and age 21. The non-contributory base plan provides school contributions of 7% of salary for eligible employees. Additionally, employees may contribute up to 3% of salary and the school will match the employee’s contribution. School contributions are subject to a vesting schedule.

We have campus housing available for about 30% of our faculty. Campus housing may range from one-bedroom apartments to single family homes and may be in a dormitory, apartment building or a stand-alone house. Housing is available based on hiring needs, family size and depth of service to the school.

Darlington's picturesque location among the seven hills and three rivers of Rome, Ga., has provided a beautiful setting to live, learn, work and play since the town was founded and subsequently named at Darlington's Home-on-the-Hill in 1834. A central location between three major southern cities — Atlanta, Birmingham, Ala. and Chattanooga, Tenn. — permits the city to be a convenient hop, skip and jump away from anywhere within the region, including three international airports.

10-Month Employee:
This person has an employment contract starting in August and works when Darlington School is in session, August through May. They get paid sick time and two personal days.
12-Month Employee:
This person has an employment contract starting in July and works year round, even when school is not in session over the summer. They typically have school holidays off, depending on department, and also get paid sick time, two personal days and vacation time.
Part-Time Employee:
Any person working less than 30 hours per week. This person is not eligible for benefits such as TIAA-CREF or insurance.
Full-Time Employee:
Any person working more than 30 hours per week. This person is eligible for benefits such as TIAA-CREF and insurance.
Campus Housing:
This refers to any housing provided by the school, whether in a dorm, apartment or other building, or a house. This may be located either on main campus or elsewhere on school property.
Dorm Duty:
Residential employees are assigned to one of Darlington’s six residential houses and will do dorm duty in the assigned house. This may consist of monitoring study hall in the evenings, monitoring the dorm on weekends, chaperoning trips, and other activities as assigned. Current duty rotations average out to 33 weeknights and 5 weekends. Dorm duty is mandatory if you live in campus housing.
