A child's first school experience will shape the way they learn for life. That's why Darlington's primary grades program is all about nurturing confidence and curiosity. Natural development is encouraged with care and skill as your child learns to delight in the world around them and begin shaping them into more concrete academic concepts. All while feeling safe and encouraged to learn and grow.
All pre-K to second grade students enjoy classes dedicated to art, music, Spanish, physical education and regular visits to the library. They also explore the world through technology designed to enhance learning, including iPads, 3D printers, and STEM activities integrated within the MakerSpace.
Our primary grades curriculum focuses on the whole child and uses a hands-on approach to building on developmental skills and academic milestones. All Darlington primary grades teachers and teaching assistants are Orton-Gillingham Classroom Educator trained. This advanced training draws on developmental neuroscience to provide an optimal education experience. Children leave second grade with the building blocks for a lifetime of academic and social success.
Primary Grades Exploratory
Play time meets learning as our pre-K to 2 students explore fascinating topics during their exploratory time. Students learn through a variety of STEM activities by making slime, stop-motion movies, and even playing games together on the playground.
Pre-K to 8 Learning Center
Supporting Young Learners
Avid young students may need learning guidance as their minds develop, and we support learners of all types at the Kahn Teaching and Learning Center for Pre-K to 8.
Learning to love learning is one of the most important lessons we teach. Our rich curriculum inspires our youngest students to reach beyond academic milestones to cultivate true curiosity.
