While at camp, the cheerleaders will work on cheers, dances, tumbling, and paint actual run-through and fence signs. All campers will receive their own Darlington pom-poms and a camp T-shirt. The week will end with a pep rally! Participation is limited to 70.
Cowboy Monday: Wear your favorite boots and bling
Camo Tuesday: Wear your favorite camo shirts, pants, hats, etc.
Christmas Theme Wednesday: Wear anything red and green Christmas related
Go Tigers Thursday: Camp T-shirt with shorts or cheer skirt
Note: This camp will take place at Thatcher Hall. Campers should bring a water bottle and snack each day.
About the directors
Payton (Payne) Guest ('10) has served as executive assistant to the head of school since 2021. She also serves as Darlington's competition cheer coach, bringing a decade of experience in competitive cheerleading. A proud Darlington alumna, Guest earned her B.S. from the University of Alabama. She is the mother of Payne (‘40).
Wendy Payne has been involved with Darlington's varsity and JV cheerleading programs for over 10 years. She has been part of the Darlington staff since 1999, currently serving as the executive coordinator to the director of Pre-K to 8. Previously, Payne worked as a library assistant, teaching assistant, and director of Camp Delightascope and Cool Yule. She is the mother of Tiffany (Payne) Horton ('02), Trey Payne ('08), and Payton (Payne) Guest ('10), and the grandmother of Sam Horton ('31), Duke Horton ('35), and Payne Guest ('40).
