Joe Pitts is excited to join the Darlington Community as head of Neville House, one of three houses for boys.

Pitts has served as head strength and conditioning coach at North Florida Christian School, Miller School of Albemarle, and Kennesaw State University; deputy sheriff at the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office in Canton, Georgia; and most recently as inspector aid for Atkins Global.

“Joe’s caring spirit and willingness to put in the work to help our students grow will be so helpful in the residential program,” said Jennifer Rundles, associate dean of student life. “He understands the student athlete through his work as a trainer at Kennesaw State and he understands the relationships are essential to helping people with their personal growth. Through his work in law enforcement, Joe learned that even those that have made bad choices need positive relationships with those that want the best for them in order to move beyond those challenging moments in their lives. His experience will bring a lot to our community.”

Pitts is particularly excited about the prospect of building a strong community environment for Neville House.

“I am looking forward to joining an already strong house and helping to develop a strong family and supportive atmosphere where the boys feel at home,” he said. “I would like to see the boys take pride and ownership of the house and make Neville the epitome of what a house can be. I love working with young people and I believe this is the perfect place to encourage, challenge, and experience life with students.”

Pitts will also be experiencing Darlington as a parent as his son Nate joins the community as a fifth-grader.

“On a personal note, I believe that joining the Darlington Community is going to be absolutely amazing for my son and I. Everyone I have met so far has been so kind and inviting, there is such a great atmosphere on campus,” he said. “Nate and I are excited to experience this community and all it has to offer, as well as contributing in every way we can.”

Pitts holds a B.S in Education and Exercise Science and Master of Science in Human Performance and Sports Studies from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee.
