Thank you to Ethan Pender (’16), communication arts teacher, for making his first-ever gift to The Darlington Fund last year!
Originally from Rome, Ethan enrolled at Darlington in pre-kindergarten and graduated in 2016. After high school, he attended the University of Georgia, where he received a B.A. in Political Science, a B.A. in Spanish and a Master of Public Administration. Now he's back, teaching a series of couses in the field of communication arts.
“I love how dedicated the students [at Darlington] are to excellence," he said. "In the fine arts department, I am amazed every day at the talent our students share, and I appreciate how Darlington provides them the space and resources they need to explore and showcase their amazing abilities.”
As a student, Ethan served as editor-in-chief of Darlington’s three student publications (Jabberwokk yearbook, The Darlingtonian online newspaper, and Inkslinger literary magazine) and received multiple awards for his efforts throughout his high school career. He was also in the National Honor Society and a Tiger Expert.
After college, his career centered around political communication before he returned to the Lakeside to be a teacher.
Ethan is a part of multiple groups that support The Darlington Fund, including 100% of our faculty and staff.
“I give to The Darlington Fund because I want to see every Darlington student provided the transformational experience I enjoyed, especially the outstanding preparation for college and beyond," he said.
Welcome back to Darlington, Ethan! We love to see our young alumni and new faculty coming back and giving back!
