Qualifications

  • Willingness to model the distinct mission of Darlington School.
  • Undergraduate degree in music education or performance and/or acceptable transcript that demonstrates competency in music and choral techniques
  • Broad knowledge of and experience with current best practices in music curriculum, instruction, and performance
  • Genuine appreciation and passion for teaching children and a desire to work with all types of learners
  • A true commitment to building and maintaining a music/choral program and her/his own professional development
  • Positive and contributing member of the professional community
  • Extraordinary communication and presentation skills
  • A desire to work in a highly collaborative environment

Responsibilities

 

  • Teach Pre-K to 5th Grade General Music 
  • Teach 6th-8th Grade Chorus
  • Teach 4th and 5th Grade Chorus
  • Direct the 3rd through 5th Grade fall musical production
  • Collaborate with PreK to 2nd grade classroom teachers for class productions throughout the year
  • DIrect the 6th through 8th grade spring musical production 
  • Prepare students and collaborate with classroom teachers for support of Pre-K through 2nd Grade plays
  • Contribute to the extracurricular life of the school and the fine arts department
  • Promote a supportive and positive classroom and school environment
  • Prepare students for performances throughout the year based on the school calendar
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and faculty 
  • Participate in GISA and GMEA events as appropriate for individual students and ensembles and in coordination with the school calendar
  • Manage budget and maintain a music and resources collection and classroom inventory
  • Invest in the school culture and assume appropriate duties and responsibilities as needed and assigned
