Steve McConnell

Third Grade Teacher, Pre-K to 8

Steve has taught third grade at Darlington since 2010. He is an assistant coach for the varsity girls’ basketball team and also works with the middle school girls’ basketball team. Steve holds a B.A. in English from Appalachian State University, and an M.Ed. from the University of South Carolina. He has almost 30 years of experience as a teacher, administrator, and coach in independent schools. During his tenure coaching middle school baseball, softball, and basketball at St. Paul’s School (Fla.), he led his Lady Knights basketball squad to two undefeated seasons and four conference championships and his Lady Knights softball team to two conference championships. He was also an assistant for the Knights baseball team’s undefeated and conference championship season.For his work at Darlington, Steve has been recognized with the Brown Faculty Award and two Excellence in Teaching Awards. He and his wife, Marcia, are the parents of Zack (’13) and Matthew (’17).
