Damon has served as band director for grades 4-12 since 2019. As such, he teaches Beginning Instrumental Methods at the Upper School as well as all band classes at Darlington, including Stadium Band, the Upper School Wind Ensemble, the Middle School Band, the Middle School Jazz Band, the Fifth-Grade Band and the Fourth-Grade Band. He holds a B.A in Music from Allegheny College, a Master of Arts in Music Education from Case Western Reserve University, and has done additional graduate work in music education at West Virginia University. Prior to his work at Darlington, Damon was director of bands and choirs for six years at the Linsly School in Wheeling, W.V., where he worked with a variety of music classes, including middle and high school band and chorus. He is passionate about building teams of young musicians and helping them overcome challenges to deliver fun, energetic and artistic final performances. He also enjoys helping students begin their journey in instrumental music and watching them continue through young adulthood. Damon and his wife, Rachel, live on campus with their son, Dean.
