Sara Zeller

Long Term Substitute, Upper School English

Sara joined Darlington as a substitute teacher in 2024, bringing a diverse background in education that spans from early childhood to college level instruction. Currently serving in the Upper School English department, she also supports the arts program, drawing on her experience as an elementary art docent and her background in humanities education. A certified professional technical writer and editor, Sara holds a B.A. in Humanities with a specialization in English Literature from Washington State University and a Certificate in Professional Technical Writing from the University of Washington. Her teaching experience includes roles in speech and language support, library education, and ESL instruction. She has particular expertise in developing creative, engaging lessons that emphasize communication and literacy skills. Sara maintains active involvement in professional development through writing conferences and educational summits focused on executive function and nature-based learning. Her commitment to fostering student engagement is evident in her adaptive and empathetic approach to teaching. She and her husband, Andrew, are the parents of Ike (’32) and Brynn (’27).
