RUMPUS 2013 has come and gone, and it has proved to be one for the history books. The bar has been raised once again, showing proof of the students' active participation in the most involved weekend in the Darlington year. As we begin to place our focus back on our studies, we wanted to take a moment to thank you for all the hard work you gave to making this weekend so successful.

When people ask me why I love my school so much, I always answer that there is just something special about this place. And that is true. This is a very special place where we are reminded every day, as we make our walk to classes, of how thankful we must be to have this place to call home. But what really makes this place unique is the faculty who gives so much of their time to us to help us see that they believe in us not only as students, but as the future for Darlington.

No other weekend displays our faculty’s belief in us than that of RUMPUS weekend. From our awesome emcee, to our faculty advisors to the maintenance crew that helped us keep the campus clean, every single one of you played a vital role in the success of this weekend. It simply would be impossible with out you. The memories you all have helped to provide us with will be ones that we will cherish for the rest of our lives.

This weekend will be one that we will tell stories about to our friends and, one day, to our children. We will talk about preforming lip sync next to our Spanish and English teachers. We will look back, with some reserve, of the throwing up in fear factor alongside our I.T. specialist. We will tell of our dean of students' wife stepping in at the last minute to help our dodgeball teams walk away with the first points of the weekend. All of us will speak of the special opportunities that our school provided us with, of our teachers believing in us -- as students -- to lead some 60 girls or boys to cheer for each other, to get to know each other, to make our ideas and personalities vulnerable to the judgment of our classmates, and to work together for one goal that is beyond what a single person can reach alone.

Together we have set a new standard for RUMPUS, and as houses begin to bring more and more creativity to the games, we will still look to all of you for our inspiration. You continue to inspire us to work hard and believe in making Darlington more than just a school, but a place where resident and day, international and local, teachers and students can all put aside the titles that differentiate us from each other, and unite us under one single name, Darlington. You inspire us to buy into our community, to buy into the idea, the one single united belief that every school strives for: the belief that we must hold in each other.

Thank you again for giving up your valuable time to help us create the most memorable RUMPUS weekend thus far, and one of the best weekends in my entire life.
