Student-athletes recognized at Spring Sports Assembly

Outstanding athletes in baseball, golf, lacrosse, soccer, tennis, and track and field were recognized at the Spring Sports Assembly Monday, April 29, in Morris Chapel. 

In baseball:

Junior Héctor Picon of Rome received the Scholar-Athlete Award.

Seniors Miles Bearden of Cartersville, Ga.; Brad Butler and Davis Page of Rome; and David Grindstaff, Alec Redden and Breck Tillery of Cedartown, Ga., received Coaches' Awards.

In golf:

Juniors Josh Buttshaw and Peyton Albertson, both of Rome, and Hannah Mae Deems of Taylorsville, Ga., received Scholar-Athlete Awards. 

Juniors Will Mathis of Rome and Lovisa Clausen of Djursholm, Sweden, were named Most Improved.

Freshman Vraj Patel of Rome and junior Hannah Mae Deems of Taylorsville, Ga., received Coaches' Awards.

Juniors Josh Buttshaw of Rome and Hannah Mae Deems of Taylorsville, Ga., were named MVPs.

In lacrosse:

Junior Chas Williams as well as seniors Asa Crawford and Bailey Brock, all of Rome, received Scholar-Athlete Awards.

Seniors Franklin Schrum of Rome and Mary Austin Morgan of Signal Mountain, Tenn., were named Most Improved.

Junior Cameron Boone of Rome received a Founder's Award.

Sophomore Abby Cook of Cedartown, Ga., received a Coaches' Award.

Junior Thomas Gilbert and senior Bailey Brock, both of Rome, were named MVPs.

In soccer:

Juniors Amita Reddy of Rome and Carlos Carrillo-Valadez of Silver Creek, Ga., received Scholar-Athlete Awards.

Junior Sarah Beth Cline of Rome was named Most Improved.

Sophomore Drew Finley and junior Sidney Wright, both of Rome, received Worn Cleat Awards.

Seniors Elizabeth Wilhoite of Cartersville, Ga., and Charles Copeland of Menlo, Ga., received Coaches' Awards.

Seniors Allie Duckworth, Sydney Greene and Baxter McWhorter, all of Rome, were named MVPs.

In tennis:

Junior Indra Sofian of Rockmart, Ga., senior Will Warren of Cartersville, Ga., and senior Maria Barragan of Guavaquil, Ecuador, received Scholar-Athlete Awards. 

Senior Garret Fricks and junior Emily Thurmond, both of Rome, received Coaches' Awards. 

Freshmen Carl Schriever and Will Crawford of Rome as well as senior Caroline Walker of Cartersville, Ga., were named Most Improved.

Seniors Will Warren of Cartersville, Ga., and Maria Barragan of Guavaquil, Ecuador, were named MVPs.

In track and field:

Juniors Bethany Cagle of Rome and Avery Cypress of Atlanta received Scholar-Athlete Awards.

Juniors Sloan Jansheski of Knoxville, Tenn., and Reeves Brown of Rome were named Most Improved.

Senior Alea Vick of Rome and sophomore Spencer Fields of Kingston, Ga., received Coaches' Awards.

Sophomore Kinslee Clevenger and senior Alex Cox, both of Rome, were named MVPs.
