Teaching & Learning Best Practices Spotlight: Paige Rogers

Three words come to mind when one thinks of Paige Rogers: commitment, encouragement and love. The Early Learning Academy relies on Mrs. Rogers to support teachers and students while enhancing learning, and she does so with dedication to every task, a positive attitude, and a passion for her students.   

While her official job title is teaching assistant, Mrs. Rogers is eager to perform any developmentally appropriate educational task that is necessary to develop and foster a love of learning. She encourages active learning through participation while offering opportunities for open-ended problem-solving. This is done in an environment that is responsive to the interest and needs of the children.  

She played a pivotal role in the Lower School transition to Thatcher Hall. Not only did she help pack her classroom, but she supported other Lower School teachers by helping them pack their materials and set up their classrooms at Thatcher Hall. She has also worked as coordinator for Camp Delightascope, a summer camp that combines academic and educational experiences for young children.   

Teachers depend on Mrs. Rogers’ support. Every day, she ensures the lessons and classrooms are ready for eager learners. In addition to facilitating instructions, she helps prepare educational materials, makes copies, and decorates classrooms and hallways.  

While working with students, Mrs. Rogers provides academic, emotional, social, and physical support. She truly values the development of the whole child. Her positive feedback and smile for each child convey the love she freely gives to those who might be struggling with hurt feelings or behavioral issues. She can often be found working one-on-one with students or engaging in small group activities. Recently, she was seen sitting in the hall, painting the feet of children to create footprints for an art project that will be given as a Christmas gift.

Children are drawn to Mrs. Rogers whether they want to share a fun task or need a caring hug to help soothe a bad day. Mrs. Rogers embodies the quote from Maya Angelou, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Paige Rogers is committed to ensuring that students enter school every day feeling safe, loved and ready to learn!
