Several members of the Darlington School family have been honored with spotlights as a part of this month's cover story for Georgia Trend magazine. The January installment features a showcase on the "100 Most Influential Georgians" and a list of Georgia “Notables.”  Among the roster of the state’s most influential is Gov. Nathan Deal, current Darlington grandparent.

This year's "Notables" include Rep. Katie Dempsey (R-Rome), parent of alumni and wife of an alumnus; Al Hodge, Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce president/CEO and parent of an alumna; and Brooks Mathis, Cobb Chamber of Commerce Senior Vice President of Economic development and former staff member of Darlington’s Advancement Office.

“Darlington is well-represented and interconnected here—our alumni, family and friends are truly interwoven into the fabric of the leadership of Georgia,” said Joe Montgomery, chief advancement officer. “They are all making a positive impact every day as they lead and serve the communities in which they live and work.”

This year’s Georgia Trend Hall of Fame inductees, Arthur Blank, co-founder of The Home Depot and owner of the Atlanta Falcons, and Shepherd Center co-founder Alana Shepherd, join the likes of Darlington alumni Tom Cousins (’48) and William S. “Billy” Morris III (’52), inducted in 2005 and 2007, respectively.

The January issue also features a community profile on Rome and Floyd County, which highlights ongoing revitalization efforts, challenges and opportunities in Northwest Georgia. Rome's diversified economy built around the education, healthcare, manufacturing and tourism sectors, and the community's vibrant quality of life are also showcased in the multi-page spread.
