Darlington School has been selected to host the Junior Day Baseball Prospect Camp & Showcase on Tuesday, June 14. The one-day event will feature different sessions for each participant to choose from with one-on-one and small group instruction. Attendees will have the opportunity to run through all aspects of the game including fielding, pitching, hitting and catching.
College coaches from Ohio University, Furman University, Mercer University, University of South Carolina Aiken, Kennesaw State University and other institutions will be onsite leading the camp. Junior Day is designed for rising seniors (Class of 2017) and juniors (2018), but is also open to rising sophomores (2019).
Players will be encouraged throughout the day to ask different questions and get to know the coaches.
"It's a great opportunity for our local high school baseball players to get exposure with other colleges from different levels and divisions," said Matt Larry, Darlington's head baseball coach. "I've been working with this group for the last six years, and I really like what they're doing and how they run their camps."
Athletes will receive both verbal and written evaluations to help them understand their strengths and weaknesses, as they move through skill work, strength work and mental training. The showcase will also include an open discussion about the NCAA recruiting process, rules and regulations.
The number of spots for each team position is limited, and students are encouraged to register in advance. Online registration is currently open, but will close automatically when the camp reaches capacity.
