Charles Steeves

Charles Steeves has joined the Darlington Community as assistant director of boarding admission. The husband of Tiger alumna Molly (Kelly) Steeves ('98), he looks forward to experiencing the magic of Darlington for himself and sharing it with others.

"I was first introduced to Rome and Darlington at the Class of 2010 Commencement ceremony during which my brother-in-law, Jack Kelly, graduated," Steeves said. "I was so impressed with the beauty and tradition behind the school. I decided then that I was going to live in Rome and send my kids to Darlington no matter the cost or sacrifice."

Steeves holds a B.A. in English Literature from Colorado State University and has nearly a decade of experience in sales, marketing and relationship management, most recently serving as a branch manager for Wells Fargo in Atlanta. There, he and his staff were consistently recognized among the top-performing branches.

"Charles has a wealth of experience in working and connecting with people, which is what Darlington is all about," said Julie Lucas ('97), chief advancement officer. "I'm excited to introduce him to our students, parents, alumni, and our entire school family to help us find great kids who will thrive at Darlington. And watch out because his energy is contagious!"

Steeves said he is grateful for the opportunity to be a Darlington Tiger.

"I pursued a career in banking with the intent to one day transfer to Rome so my children could attend Darlington," he explained. "When I was made aware of a position in admissions, I thought it sounded like a great fit for me."

He added that he is very much enjoying the academic environment.

"There is a certain feel in the air of growth and challenge," he said. "My impressions of Darlington are numerous and exceed expectation. To describe the faculty and staff as family seems to be an understatement. I have been welcomed and made to feel wanted. I really look forward to helping Darlington grow its student population."

He and his family will be living on campus.

"I wanted to live on campus to experience the school in a more intimate way, one that would help me better understand my colleagues, students and their passions," he said. "Moreover, by living on campus, I am better suited to talk about and sell the product of a Darlington education."

In addition to spending time with his wife and infant daughter, Mary Alston, Steeves enjoys fly fishing, tennis, golf, growing exotic hot peppers and watching SEC football.
