The mother of fourth-grader Reese and wife of Database Administrator Paul Bell, Kim Bell now has a new role within the school community as head of Regester House and community service coordinator. She looks forward to being even more active in the life of the school as her family moves to campus.
As head of Regester House, Bell will develop lifelong relationships with each student and their family and serve as their advocate and confidante while in her care. As community service coordinator, she will coordinate the service hours and class service projects for all Upper School students who are required to complete 15 hours of service each school year.
"I am excited to see Kim lead Regester House," said Matt Peer, director of Upper School. "She has a passion for working with young women as well as an enthusiasm for building programs and helping students succeed. We are extremely excited to have Kim, Paul, and Reece joining our residential community."
With 20 years of experience in corporate team-building and training, Bell is also responsible for the creation of college intern programs at several different financial institutions. She holds a B.S. in Economics and an M.B.A. from Shorter College and most recently served as the chief financial officer and human resources director for Fox Trucking.
“It will be interesting to adapt corporate team-building strategies to fit the unique needs of a student environment,” said Bell. “Throughout my career, mentoring student interns has brought me more personal joy than any other career accomplishment. I'm excited that Darlington has given me the opportunity for a career that concentrates solely on student mentoring and achievement.”
Bell is truly excited to be joining the residential life staff at Darlington and being a part of the lives of students on campus.
“I have met many of the Regester House residents already and they are truly an amazing group of young ladies,” she said. “They are very accomplished in academics, sports, theatre, art and music. They're creative, studious, friendly and funny. As Head of House, I can't wait to help celebrate the students' successes. Whether it's an A on an exam, a winning game, a stellar performance, or uncovering a new creative passion, I look forward to celebrating these special events with them.”
In her free time, Bell enjoys camping, relaxing at her family’s lake house, watching the Washington Capitals play hockey, making jewelry, and reading.
“Darlington is already a special place for me. It is a welcoming community and I already feel like part of the family,” she said. “Living on campus will allow us to participate in even more activities and events and be involved in the everyday lives of the students.”
