Sukhanath to teach Upper School math

Kristin Sukhanath has joined the Darlington Community as Upper School math teacher.

“I am absolutely thrilled to be joining Darlington as an algebra teacher at the Upper School,” said Sukhanath. “I look forward to being able to incorporate a variety of projects, games, and exploratory/discovery learning. Everyone at Darlington has been very welcoming and accommodating, and I know great things are going to happen throughout the year!”

Sukhanath has over a decade of teaching and tutoring experience in the high school and post-secondary classroom setting, serving most recently as an independent tutor in both Painted Post, New York and Rome, Georgia. She has also taught secondary mathematics in the Muscogee County School District and for the City Schools of Decatur, Georgia and was an Academic Skills Math Specialist and Adjunct Math Professor at Saginaw Chippewa Tribal College in Mount Pleasant, Michigan.

“We are excited to add Kristin to the math department because she has taught at the high school and collegiate levels,” said Matt Peer, Upper School director. “Kristin’s references at both levels speak to her ability to connect with a wide range of learners and how she gets students to LOVE math, even those who struggle.”

Sukhanath holds a B.A. in Mathematics with a minor in Business Administration from Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. She is married to Al and they have two children: Janette (four-years-old, starting pre-K at Darlington in the fall) and Ricky (four months old).
