Dr. Toni King has joined the Darlington Community as Upper School biology and anatomy and physiology teacher. With over 20 years of research and collegiate-level instruction, Dr. King comes to Darlington from Georgia Highlands College in Rome where she has served as an adjunct instruction in the Division of Natural Sciences.

“As a parent of two Darlington students, I am excited for the opportunity to more actively contribute to the academic environment that makes Darlington so special,” said King. “Having taught at the college level for 14 years, I hope to bring a unique insight into what students need to succeed at the next level.”

King holds a B.S. in Microbiology from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas and a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was a postdoctoral research fellow in molecular oncology at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri and in microbiology and immunology at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois.

“We are excited for Toni to join our Upper School community and we know that she will bring a wealth of experience to the science department,” said Matt Peer, Upper School director. “Throughout the hiring process it was evident that she has a passion for biology and will look for ways to incorporate her background in research at the university level in the classroom and iPeriods.”

Dr. King is married to Dr. Robert King, an otolaryngologist at Harbin Clinic, and they are the parents of Allison (‘23) and Timmy (‘25).
