Caroline Dingler ('20) has been named to the first team of the 6A All-Region softball team.
A senior four-year letter winner, Dingler had a strong senior season, boasting a .412 batting average with 14 hits, 6 extra base hits (4 being home runs), 6 RBIs, 15 stolen bases, and 8 walks on the season. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and a Presbyterian Fellow. She was recently presented the Most Valuable Performer Award for the 2019 softball season. In addition to softball, Dingler is a four-year letter winner and team captain of the varsity basketball team.
“Caroline was an incredible leader on and off the field for the softball team this year. Any time she stepped on the field everyone knew something big could happen,” said Anna Swafford, head softball coach for Darlington. “She was solid on defense, always communicating with her team and commanding the field, and she was always a threat at the plate with her speed and power. To me, however, Caroline would shine the most on the days when she wasn’t performing her best. No one could ever tell because of the way she always managed to keep her head up and bring everyone else up around her. That’s the sign of a true leader, someone who can find a way to make the best of every situation and choose to bring others up around her for the betterment of the team instead of focusing on herself and her performance. Her positivity and fun personality will be missed on the field next year.”
In the fall of 2020, Dingler will attend Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania to play basketball on the collegiate level. She is the daughter of Van and Cindy Dingler of Cedartown, Georgia.
