Chad Woods has been appointed director of the Upper School, effective July 1, announced Head of School Brent Bell today.
"Chad has excelled as a teacher, coach, administrator and mentor during his 14-year career at Darlington," said Bell. "He is one of the most trusted members of our faculty."
Woods was hired as a math teacher in 2006 and was named dean of studies in 2018. He also serves as master scheduler. His previous roles at Darlington have included math department chair, head baseball coach, head softball coach and head golf coach. He holds a B.S. and M.Ed. from the University of West Georgia.
"I am excited about the opportunity to lead and represent the Upper School," said Woods. "Darlington is a place that has been a blessing to my family, and we want to continue to give back to the school in this new role. A wise man once told me a leader is a servant. I will constantly strive to serve our administrators, teachers, students and parents."
He and his wife, Lindsay, manager of The DAR Shop, have two children, Ava Ann (’26) and Barrett ('29). They live on campus and he is a member of the Summerbell House duty staff.
"Chad's leadership style, commitment to high standards in all endeavors, and student-first approach make him the right choice at this time," said Bell. "Please join me in congratulating him on his new role!"
