RuthAnne Anderson and Hannah Jones ('17) visited with students in pre-K to 2 and shared about the books they've collaborated on as author and illustrator. The students learned about Iceland, puffins, creating a book, and even had the opportunity to draw their own imaginary creature.
RuthAnne is the mother of Cody ('08), Brody ('10), and Zane ('17) and has been a longtime photographer for Darlington School. Hannah was a classmate of Zane's and is currently a senior at Jacksonville State University, working toward a Bachelor of Fine Arts in graphic design. Hannah has participated in numerous juried art shows and her award-winning designs have been featured in a number of publications. Click here to see a portfolio of her work.
RuthAnne began publishing books in 2019 with the "If Pets Could Talk" series, which was quickly followed up with "Iceland: The Puffin Explorers Series," including four books that follow the adventures of a pair of puffins named Árni and Birta. This award-winning series features RuthAnne's photography from her travels to Iceland and also includes illustrations by Hannah. RuthAnne then released two YA publications, "Girl Sailing Aboard the Western Star" and "The Last Crabtree Girl". Most recently, she launched the Cody the Cockatrice Series with the first book titled "Once Upon the Rhine." This adventure was inspired by RuthAnne's cruise down the Rhine and features a mythological creature, also illustrated by Hannah.
