Welcome to Episode 114 of The Darlington Podcast!
In this episode, Content Manager Maddie Chastain talks with Emma Adams ('23) and Upper School English teacher Jennifer Kelley about the work they have done to create a new Writing Center for Darlington Upper School students through Adams' Senior Ventures project. They discuss how the Writing Center will benefit students, the development process and future plans for the Writing Center and the Tiger Tutors.
Maddie Chastain has served as content manager in the Communication Office since 2022. She holds a B.A. in Communication from Berry College. While there, she spent three years working on digital marketing for the Center for Personal and Professional Development and serving as a first-year mentor for the Berry College Office of Academic Transitions. Additionally, she held communication/marketing internships with Gordon County Schools, The Big Fake Wedding and the Sexual Assault Center of NWGA.
Jennifer Kelley joined the English department faculty in 2010. She holds a B.A. in English Education from Shorter College and an M.A. in English from Clemson University. While working on her M.A. at Clemson, she also studied for a semester at Oxford University before completing work toward her Ph.D. in English at the University of Georgia. Since her time at Darlington, Jennifer has presented at several conferences throughout the Southeast on her work with design thinking in the classroom and was named STAR Teacher for Darlington School, the Rome/Floyd County School Districts, and for Region I.
