In this episode, Head of School Brent Bell talks with Science Department Head Owen Kinney about his history at Darlington, his goals as department head and much more. This is the first in a new series highlighting each of Darlington's department heads. This episode was recorded on Oct. 10.
Brent Bell was named Darlington's 11th head of school in 2014. With two decades of experience in education, he holds a B.A. in History from the University of Richmond and an M.S. in Education from Virginia Commonwealth University.
Owen Kinney has taught science at the Upper School since 1999 and serves as head of the department. He holds a B.S. in Biology from Berry College and an M.S. in Ecology from the University of Georgia. During his tenure at Darlington, he has been recognized with several teaching honors, including the Beachum, Awsumb, and Betts Master Teacher Awards.
