The 2023 editions of the Jabberwokk yearbook and Inkslinger literary magazine have earned high marks from the National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA).
The Jabberwokk earned an All-American rating with four marks of distinction in the areas of essentials, coverage, writing and editing, and photography. The All-American is the highest honor bestowed by the NSPA for student publications. To receive it, a staff must earn at least four marks of distinction and earn an overall score of at least 450 out of a possible 500 points.
"I am so proud of our staff for receiving such an outstanding rating from the NSPA," said Ethan Pender ('16), communication arts teacher. "Their hard work and care for our community are evident in every page of this publication. I cannot wait to see how this year's staff continues, and builds upon, this success."
The Inkslinger received a First Class rating with two marks of distinction in the areas of design and concept. The staff also received eight out of a possible 10 bonus points in the area of student work, which is based on the percentage of the work completed solely by students.
"The Inkslinger staff produced a solid literary magazine, and it certainly shows," said Pender. "From beautiful design to unique content, Volume 40 excels in showcasing the diverse talent at Darlington School. The staff did a remarkable job, and this rating from the NSPA is undoubtedly something to celebrate."
