Welcome to Episode 135 of The Darlington Podcast!
In this episode, senior boarding student Mary Covington talks with varsity coaches Brant Evans (cross country), Wayne Groves (football), Anna Harris (softball), Christina Kopp (volleyball) and Melissa Smyly (spirit and competition cheerleading) about the fall athletic season at Darlington. You'll hear a little bit about each team and their highlights of the fall season, from summer workouts to team bonding to their accomplishments and more.
Brant Evans came to Darlington in 2008 and currently serves as dean of student life at the Upper School. He also teaches AP government classes and coaches boys' and girls' cross country.
Wayne Groves has been the head football coach and director of strength and conditioning since 2023.
Anna Harris has served as head softball coach, assistant track coach, and strength and speed conditioning coach since 2019.
Christina Kopp has taught art for grades Pre-K to 8 since 2019 and is the head coach of the varsity volleyball team.
Melissa Smyly has taught English at the Upper School since 2017 and serves as head fo the department. She also coaches varsity football, basketball and competition cheerleading.
