Eight members of the varsity boys and girls cross country teams received All-Area honors. Head coach Brant Evans was named All-Area Boys Coach of the Year, and eighth-grader Knox Merritt was named All-Area Middle School Runner of the Year.
"This 2023 cross country team was a special one," said Evans. "We had 24 boys and 10 girls who were committed to getting better every day. Six of our boys and one of our girls made the All-Area team or received an honorable mention. Our girls team exceeded expectations by finishing as the region runner-up and 10th in the state while competing with only one returner. The nine senior boys, five of which were four-year lettermen, led us to a region title and a third-place finish at the state championship. The success they helped achieve will be difficult to replicate, but the standard they set as tireless workers and devoted teammates will be a benchmark for our team for years to come."
