Welcome to Episode 154 of The Darlington Podcast! 

In this episode, Director of Annual Giving Julia Thomas ('07, LD '15) talks with boarding alumnus David Sewell ('75) and his step-daughter Laura Guth ('19) about their family legacy at Darlington, their experiences as boarding students over four decades apart and more.

Julia Thomas ('07, LD '15) returned to her alma mater to serve as director of annual giving in 2015. She holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Georgia.

David Sewell ('75) was a boarding student from Florida, a second-generation Darlington boarding student. At Darlington, he competed on the track and swim teams and was a photographer for the Jabberwokk yearbook. After graduation, Sewell attended Auburn University, where he earned a B.A. in psychology. After changing his career plans, he attended Nova Southeastern University where he earned a B.S. in computer science, as well as his MBA. He spent his early career in the software industry before starting his own company focusing on enterprise architecture for Fortune 1000 companies. He is currently enjoying retirement in Fairhope, Ala. 

Laura Guth ('19) was a two-year boarding student from Alabama, the third-generation Darlington boarding student on her step-father's side of the family. At Darlington, she was on the crew team and cheered, as well as singing in the choir. After graduating, Guth attended the University of South Alabama, where she earned a degree in speech and hearing science. She currently lives in Rome, Ga., where she works at Atrium Health Floyd in the rehabilitation unit.
