Next Thursday, July 25, marks the 13th annual Whit’s Lemonade Stand in support of the Open Door Home of Rome. Whit Molnar has raised approximately $95,000 since he created the fundraiser. This year he is hoping to pass the $100,000 mark.
Molnar was only 4 years old when he had the idea for the lemonade stand. It has since grown into an annual event with frozen lemonade, cakes, chocolate dipped pretzels and patrons crowding the sidewalk in front of the Molnar home.
Last year Molnar raised $20,500 for the youth of the ODH. The local nonprofit provides emergency and extended care to children who have been neglected and abused.
Molnar said, “I really enjoy doing the lemonade and cookie stand every year. I love how much it has grown as I’ve grown up. I’m very grateful for the way our community has supported the Open Door Home through my lemonade stand.”
The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in front of the Molnar home at 210 E. Fourth St.
Any donation receives a free lemonade and cookie and every $25 donation will receive a special gift, while supplies last.
Large-quantity delivery and pickup options are available in advance by calling 706-266-7708.
100% of donations will go to the Open Door Home.
Donations can be made both in person or online at GiveButter.com/WhitsLemonadeStand or via Venmo @whitslemonade.
Donation checks also will be accepted and should be made out to the Open Door Home.
