From the Director of Upper School: End-of-the-Year Events

As we start thinking about the end of the school year, Darlington will be a busy place these last weeks with Prom in two weeks, leadership interviews and elections, honor society inductions, and award ceremonies.

One of the most anticipated upcoming events is the return of Light the Lake. If you have been a part of the community for several years, you know how special of an event this is. This night brings the Darlington Community together in honor and memory of family and friends with cancer. Light the Lake dates back to 2009 when a group of students wanted to host an event similar to Relay for Life on campus. Thanks to seniors Atlas Kosedag and Charlie Patel and faculty members Jordan West and Heather Shores, Light the Lake will return this year for the first time since 2019. The Class of 2025 has chosen this as their senior service project as well. I think it is fitting that a group of students with former Head of House Reba Barnes started Light the Lake and now students are leading a team to bring it back.

As we look forward to Light the Lake on Friday, April 4, and other upcoming events, I encourage everyone to continue finding ways to engage, support, and lift up one another. Each of you play a vital role in making our school a great place. Thank you for volunteering, attending events, and lending a kind word for all of our students and faculty. I am thankful to be a part of the Darlington Community!
