The Darlington Chapter of the Cum Laude Society inducted 22 students during a ceremony in Morris Chapel on Thursday, April 10.
According to Upper School science teacher Mike Hudson ('94, LD '18), Chapter president, membership in the Cum Laude Society is the highest academic honor Darlington can bestow upon a group of students. Election is highly selective. In order to be eligible for consideration, a student must have an A (93) for all four years; must have taken at least 10 Honors and AP courses (five of which must be AP courses) over four years; students must also have demonstrated good character, honor, and integrity in all aspects of their school life. Not all students who meet these criteria will necessarily be elected, as membership is limited by The Cum Laude Society's national rules to maximum of 20% of each senior class.
Inductees included Oluwafemi Ayomide Ajiboye, Arike Akinbolagbe, Julia Cecile Beauchamp, Bo Watson Brooks, Ansel Angelo Enverga, Kathleen J. Hwang, Alexis Lily Ivester, Christa Louise Jackson, Emily Mabel James, Timothy Edward King, Aryan Kochar, Atlas Sevan Kosedag, Brecken Michael Laliberte, Nicholas John Njisane Lawrence, Angeline Loren Myrie, An Viet Hoang Nguyen, Yixin Pan, Charlie Pulin Patel, Bradley William Sanker, Kines Harris Smith, Qiulin Wu and Tianxiang Ye.
"Excellence and honor are concepts at the heart of both The Cum Laude Society and Darlington School," said Hudson. "The students we recognized have shown, through their work at Darlington, that they represent these qualities. We are happy to see what they have accomplished and hope to see them carry their good work forward throughout their lives."
