The first-graders have begun learning all about holidays around the world this week. To begin our unit, we invited Coach Becks Nolin to come visit the class to teach us all about Christmas in England. Becks taught the class about holiday traditions and how many of the things her family did to celebrate were similar to the things many families do in the U.S. She also introduced the class to the idea of Christmas crackers, which are given out to children and are opened by puling at them. Once opened, children find trinkets, jokes, and paper crowns.
