In these pieces, Art 1 students took their initial black-and-white ink painting compositions and explored the use of subjective or unrealistic colors. Learning different approaches to Prismacolor colored pencils and in a future gallery, gouache, the students focused on colored pencil techniques while enjoying the possibilities inherent in color. In the introduction to this lesson, students were shown work by two artists: Michael Craig Martin and Darlington School graduate Sara Bailey Yoder ('17).
