Charcoal Reduction Drawings are created by first covering a piece of paper with a layer of rich charcoal. The artists then erase the light and medium tones to create a unique and dramatic effect, in essence drawing with an eraser. Working from a photograph of their choice, these advanced studio artists show a variety of levels of precision, thereby showing personal style. Without the fear of getting too dark in value, the artists have learned to seek out the range of values inherent in this technique.
