Mrs. Boling’s sixth-grade girls advisory started Dot Day 2025 by creating notes and cards of encouragement for Mrs. Z. They then jumped on a DAR bus to visit the Ruth and Naomi House, a shelter for women and children that is part of The William S. Davies Homeless Shelters. The girls planned a pasta meal for the residents at Ruth and Naomi House, and each donated an item on the menu! The volunteers were happy to receive a special meal to be served to the residents that evening. While there, the girls were given an informational tour followed by Q and A with the manager, Taylor Ritchie. After the tour, the girls geared up to assist with the clearing out and organization of a storage room that holds community donations. They organized and shelved cleaning supplies and personal hygiene items, and sorted clothing donations into boxes and bags for delivery to The Hospitality House Thrift Store. Then they loaded all of those donations onto the DAR bus and delivered them. Once the girls returned to campus for lunch, they quickly got back to work serving here in the Darlington Community. The girls decided on the games Nuke-’em and kickball and spent time coaching and playing with the second-grade class. It was a blessing to watch the girls find joy in helping others. What started as a day of selfless service to others turned out to be a day of gratitude and humility for these sweet sixth-grade girls. Thank you, girls, for a remarkable Dot Day, 2025!
Middle grades students participate in International Dot Day each year as a way to serve and "make our mark" in our community.
