Concert Choir Receives Superior Rating at LGPE

Congratulations to the Concert Choir for receiving an overall superior rating at the GMEA Large Group Performance Evaluation. The scores they received from four judges, reflected their hard work, musical growth, and commitment to excellence this year.

The group is made up of 38 students, 23 of which are new to the ensemble this year. Middle and Upper School Choral Director Alex Johnson prepared these students for success through consistent work that started from the first day of rehearsal in August. The students have grown in skill in many areas of choral singing and their accomplishment at LGPE reflects the depth and focus of their preparation across all aspects of musicianship.

The choir performed two songs for this event: "Like a River in My Soul" by Tim Osiek and "The Word Was God" by Rosephanye Powell. These selections provided students the opportunity to showcase their growth as musicians, demonstrating tonal awareness and accurate pitch, rhythmic precision, and consistent vowel placement. Their thoughtful interpretation of the repertoire, combined with carefully shaped dynamics, brought musicality and expressive depth to their performance.

Congratulations to this group for their hard work and dedication to choral music. We look forward to hearing them sing at several upcoming events this spring!
