Chandler Cryer is joining the Darlington Community as Upper School Spanish teacher. She will be teaching AP Spanish Lit and Spanish 3.

Cryer has extensive experience in teaching and tutoring students learning English as a second language and has taught Spanish to elementary, high school, and undergraduate students.

“We are excited to have Chandler join the world language department,” said Matt Peer, Upper School director. “She has traveled to 14 different countries and has spent the last year living in China, teaching English. She’s excited to join a boarding school community.”

Cryer holds a B.A. in both Spanish and Teaching English as a Second Language from Union University in Jackson, Tennessee and a Master of Arts in Teaching Language from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

“Learning a new language gives us the key to unlock a whole new culture and worldview,” said Cryer. “I am looking forward to working with the foreign language department at Darlington as we encourage students to be life-long language learners and explore all the benefits that come along with being able to communicate with a whole new group of people and see the world in a different way.”
