Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.
Boarding school is an adventure. A time for explorations. A chance to gain independence. And an opportunity for growth. As you get adjusted to our living and learning community, Darlington's First-Year Experience Program helps you develop the study, time management, and interpersonal skills necessary to succeed here.
New freshman boarding students are assigned to one of two first-year houses, one for boys and one for girls, each managed by heads of house who are trained to deal with the issues that may arise as you get used to boarding life. With more structure and support, our first-year houses prepare you for your eventual transition to the upper houses by instilling self-respect, self-worth and self-confidence.
A handful of student prefects from the upper grades, who know exactly what it's like to be first-year boarding students, live alongside and mentor you, helping you feel right at home as you discover your own opportunities to shine at Darlington.
