Concert Choir’s LGPE Experience

Alex Johnson | March 21, 2024 | 44 views

Concert Choir went to Pepperell High School to participate in LGPE (Large Group Performance Evaluation) where they received scoring of overall 1s, the highest score, on both performance and sight reading. The rating scale is a scale of 5-1. 1=superior, 2=excellent, 3=good, 4=fair, 5=poor.

This event is put on by the Georgia Music Educators Association and is a wonderful way for choirs to gain insight to how they are doing compared to other local choirs as well as get feedback on their sound. The expectations for this event are strict. Each group has to prepare two contrasting songs, one with accompaniment and one a cappella. As they perform these songs, they are judged based on seven categories including: tone, pitch, rhythm, ensemble, diction, interpretation and other factors. They also have to be prepared to be given a four measure excerpt of music and read it fluently in four parts after a short practice time. These students have been working since the end of December on these skills and they have witnessed the success that hard work brings.

I am attaching a recording of our performance and copies of our judges sheets in case you are interested to learn more!

Please congratulate these students when you see them!
