In this episode, Director of Pre-K to 8 Hope Jones talks with middle grades teachers Andrew Beckman, science; Ashley Evans, Spanish; and Kevin Ivester ('87), math, about active learning and the skills-based curriculum in the middle grades. They share active learning stories from their classrooms and touch on why they think Darlington's skills-based curriculum benefits students at this age.
On a weekend in early October, I drove up to Black Mountain, N.C., to see my best friend. I drive up about three or four times a year to see him. But this time was different. This would be the first time I would come up and not see his dad, Mr. Gordon Neville ('55).
Kevin Ivester ('87) has been a part of the Darlington Community since his move to Rome in seventh grade. Find out how long he has been teaching at Darlington and maybe even learn something about him that just might surprise you.
